Respiratory system

The respiratory system is a complex network of organs and tissues that facilitates the exchange of gases, primarily oxygen and carbon dioxide, between the body and the external environment. Comprising organs such as the nose, trachea, lungs, and diaphragm, this system supports the crucial process of respiration. Inhaled air, rich in oxygen, enters the lungs where it is exchanged with carbon dioxide from the bloodstream and then exhaled. The respiratory system not only provides the body with oxygen essential for cellular functions but also plays a role in maintaining acid-base balance. Through this intricate process of breathing, the respiratory system ensures the continual supply of oxygen to the body's cells while expelling waste gases, contributing to the body's overall metabolic stability and functionality.
